The Road to Julie Andrews...

Our most recent assignment in iQuest was to find a book that in some way relates to your iQuest topic, and read it. This was by far the easiest thing because I knew exactly what book I wanted to read. Anyone that knows me can tell you that my idol is Julie Andrews. She is my absolute favorite person in the world. I've probably seen "The Sound of Music" over 500 times. She's done movies, T.V, Broadway...pretty much everything on the planet. Anyways, I thought this would be a great oppertunity to read one of her books; Home, A Memoir of My Early Years. The book is about her life growing up and her family history. About halfway though she begins to explain how she got her start, her Broadway shows, and staring in "Marry Poppins" and "The Sound of Music". (Don't worry, I haven't read it yet, I just skimmed!) The book is about 330 pages, so To be finished by January 28th (our due date), I would need to read about 8 pages a day. I've read the first two chapters already, and I find it very interesting. She grew up in England and begins talking about her great great grandparents, and everyone else in between, leading up to her childhood. It's interesting to learn these types of things about a person. You can really see their struggles and the hardships they went through in their life. I think Julie Andrews wanted people to know about where she came from and the people she was influenced by. I am looking forward to reading more about her history and how she became one of the biggest names in Music, Broadway, and Film.
